Why Atlanta?
The Better Cities Film Festival uses the power of film to inspire conversations on creating more walkable, livable, and inclusive communities. Bringing the festival to Atlanta aligns with the city's growth and challenges, highlighting solutions in urban design, public spaces, and equitable development. With a global presence and a legacy of impactful storytelling, the festival engages local creatives, planners, and residents to envision a better Atlanta for all.
Originally founded as the New Urbanism Film Festival in 2013, the festival expanded from Los Angeles to cities worldwide, fostering dialogue on urban innovation. Now based in Detroit, it has showcased over 700 films across 30 cities, demonstrating storytelling’s power to shape better places. We connect the city’s creative and planning communities by hosting it in Atlanta, sparking ideas for a more sustainable and vibrant future.
